Dr Daragh O'Reilly, Sheffield University Management School
Daragh O’Reilly is Senior Lecturer in Creative and Cultural Industries. He joined the Management School in 2006, having previously worked at the Universities of Leeds and Bradford. Before joining academia, he worked in a range of line and consultancy roles in international sales and marketing.
There has been considerable interest over the past decade in the relationship between brands and their past. This has led to strands of literature in brand heritage, nostalgia and retro-branding. However, these strands mainly ignore the work on cultural memory and social remembering.
This seminar presents work on two projects which use this theoretical perspective to mine insights into how musical organisations build brands in the areas of popular music "classic" albums and music consumption community.
