SUMS Annual Doctoral Conference

Sheffield University Management School is pleased to announce the introduction of an Annual Doctoral Conference.

At the conference SUMS doctoral students will present their research and receive feedback from fellow PGR students and members of academic staff.

The purpose of the conference is two-fold.

1. It will provide an opportunity to ‘showcase’ and celebrate the research undertaken by the School's PGR community. Most importantly, the conference aims to encourage and to facilitate the exchange of research ideas between doctoral students and academic staff thereby contributing to the development of a vibrant and dynamic research environment.

2. The conference will provide a development opportunity for our PGR students. PGR students will be required to present and defend a conference paper to an audience of peers. PGR students will obtain constructive feedback on their research within a supportive and collegiate environment. The objective is to develop key skills which will be invaluable for future careers and employability both within and outside academia.

Format of the Day

The conference will commence with an opening welcome, which will be followed by sessions streamed by division and/or research centres. PGR students will be presenting to subject specialists within their division.

From the 2017 PGR intake, the conference will be a compulsory component of the new Doctoral Training in Management module. In the meantime, we strongly request that all PGR students attend and present their research.
